Slowpoke Lounge
23/6/24, 11:00 pm
We finally made our way to Slow Poke – Collingwood’s newest rooftop bar with city views, a solid cocktail list, and a pretty playful menu.
First up, the Dirty Gin Martini: crisp, balanced, and briny in all the right ways. Not sure what the olive policy is though… our first came with two, second with three. We’re not mad… ok maybe we are. We just love our olives, the more the merrier.
The Matcha Martini? Unexpectedly good. You actually taste the matcha—earthy, lightly sweet, and surprisingly well-balanced. Not just a gimmick, promise.
We couldn’t resist snacks (when do we ever, also not pictured because we devoured it too soon). The infamous burger and hashbrown fries? A yes from both of us. Expect a bit of that sweet-savoury thing running through the menu, but it works.
Service? Staff were genuinely lovely, but the drinks… well, they really leaned into the slow in Slowpoke. Food hit the table before the cocktails, and the two martinis didn’t land together after a solid 20-minute wait. They were packed, they’re still finding their rhythm, but if you’re thirsty, patience is key.
Views are great, and for the smokers, the rooftop’s smoker-friendly too.
Our rating:
🍸 8/10 for food & drinks
🍸 6/10 for service
A good-looking new rooftop with potential. We’ll definitely be back.
