Caretaker's Cottage
7/9/25, 2:00 am
Tucked behind Wesley Church on Little Lonsdale, Caretaker's Cottage feels like one of those places that’s always been part of the city, and in a way, it has.
A bluestone cottage from 1914 turned into what’s probably Victoria’s smallest pub and one of the world’s 50 best bars.
Known for some of the best martinis in town—naturally, we took ours dirty—the team ensures the glasses are perfectly chilled and provide extra brine on the side if you like it filthy (we absolutely do).
The cocktail list rotates monthly, along with its design, all crafted in-house by their designer Ryan. Every time you visit, the drinks, the look, and the vibe evolve, but the service? Always consistent. It’s the “good to see you again” or “see you tomorrow” energy from the team that makes this spot feel less like a world-class bar, and more like your local—if your local poured martinis this good.
This is an icon for a reason: small in size, huge on reputation.
Rating? Can’t rate perfection.
